Hirschmann Volumetric Glassware Graduation Information
|
|
Volumetric measuring instruments made of glass do have either
a ringmark or a scale for the exact determination of volumes.
A ringmark is durably printed all around the instrument. Its
upper edge is the bottom line or the lowest point of the developing
meniscus.

Scales are usually available in two different versions:
Short line graduation:
The ends of the graduation marks project symmetrical to the left
and the right of an imagined vertical line at the front of the
instrument. The shortest lines surround 1/8, the medium lines
1/6 and the longest lines ¼ of the instrument's circumference.
This type of graduation is used for class B products with a scale.

Main point ring graduation:
The ends of the graduation marks project symmetrical to the left
and the right of an imagined vertical line at the front of the
instrument. The shortest lines surround 1/8, the medium lines
1/6 and the longest lines at least 9/10 of the instrument's circumference.
The opening of the main points (longest lines) has to be located
on the side of the instrument. The main point ring graduation
is an imperative prescription for all class A/AS products with
a scale. It is also an indispensable condition for the conformity
certification.
