Volumetric measuring instruments made of glass from Hirschmann Laborgeräte are usually printed with silk-screens. Elastic templates guarantee especially for printing scales on graduated pipettes, burettes and measuring cylinders an exact correspondence with the calibration marks. Therefore also the intermediate volumes on a scale are correct, which is an important condition for the conformity certification.

Hirschmann uses only high-quality printing inks for this special purpose.
Enamel:
This graduation color is printed and melted on top of the glass surface around 500°C in furnaces, which can be adjusted in steps of 0,5°C. In theory all kinds of colors are possible, but in practise the scales are usually white or quite often blue colored. Especially the blue enamel is ideal in terms of easy reading, contrast and durability. The blue enamel is usually used for DURAN products like e.g. burettes, measuring cylinders and volumetric flasks.
Amber stain diffusion ink:
This graduation color is also used for silk-screen printing. In contrary to the enamel inks, which are melted on top of the glass surface, this ink compounds with the surface of the glass (diffusion). This is the reason for the durability of these graduations and removing it is only possible by abrasion of the glass surface, which definitely does not happen during regular use. Amber stain diffusion ink is used in series for products made of soda-lime glass (AR) like e.g. volumetric pipettes and graduated pipettes, but is also becoming more and more common for volumetric flasks and measuring cylinders.
